Urban mobility is a central theme in debates about
life in cities throughout Brazil. Approved in the Rouanet Federal Culture
Incentive Law the Bike Arte Ciclo Voador project unites training between
sectors such as cultural production income generation and urban mobility to
culminate in the Ciclo Voador Festival? an open-air event that promotes the
various forms and benefits of cycling in cultural and artistic activities.
Each day-long festival aims to reach an audience of up
to five thousand people and most of the attractions and activities must be
produced by the local community. To this end in the weeks leading up to the
event Aromeiazero in addition to going out into the field to identify the
regions potential in relation to culture and cycling will conduct training
workshops for people with topics related to mechanics and cycle tourism urban
art and cultural production. The entire production will be shown at the
festival with the entire community involved.
The training sessions and festivals are sponsored by
ALD Automotive and Shimano in addition to individual donors.
Promoting Bicycle Culture
Promoting this type of festival is nothing new for
Aromeiazero a São Paulo NGO with the mission of promoting bicycles as an
instrument of social and economic transformation. Since 2012 it has held
editions in the neighborhoods of Grajaú Heliópolis São Miguel Paulista
Pinheiros Vila Madalena and Luz in São Paulo. In addition to other actions and
projects in capitals such as Rio Salvador and Porto Alegre.
